Nominations for our Eastern Area President

Tim Keppler, your webmaster, here – with an Urgent Message:

This is, perhaps, one of the most important posts that I have written this year.  You have, not doubt, seen a request from me, as a member of the nominations committee, last summer and fall as we were seeking candidates for area officers.  Well, now it is time for us to find a new president.  Gary Lyons had stepped in to fill the vacancy left when Phyllis Britz’ term expired and there was no one else to step up.  Gary’s two-year term saved our Eastern Area from dissolution – something that could happen if we fail to nominate and elect a new Area President.   The nomination process is different from what I was able to help with last year.  Area President candidates must be nominated by a National Director and they could use YOUR HELP.  Each Chapter has a National Director and we have 28 chapters in our Eastern Area.

Perhaps you might consider the position. But, if you don’t talk to a National Director, you would probably miss the opportunity to be nominated.  Maybe you know someone you would like to see nominated – talk to your Chapter’s National Director.  In all cases, talk to them and ask, who you plan to nominate?  We have one of the best Areas in the US, the best Chapters and the best people.  Surely, we should have no problem finding some to nominate.

Below, I am posting several links to give you some background on the position of Area President and more information on the process of nominating and electing a candidate.  In reading through the document in the first link, I found this phrase, “Hopefully, you (the candidate for this office) have served at the local chapter level, Area level, and even better, National Committees. Holding an office in a Chapter or Area adds to your knowledge to be an effective Area President.”  We want to be certain that we are getting someone as qualified and engaged as Gary Lyons, Phyllis Britz and the others who have proceeded them.  Now get reading and then get talking.
