Closure of FRVA’s Tiffin Travelers Chapter

The following message was received by FRVA and the Eastern Area today:

On November 7, 2025 the Executive Officers of Tiffin Travelers met at Ocean Lakes CG in Myrtle Beach and voted to cease operations of the chapter.  Please remove Eastern Area Tiffin Travelers from FRVA online records at the national and area level and advise as to any additional action required by me.

Former president Rusty La Barre was in attendance at the meeting even though he had previously announced his ineligibility and withdrawal from membership.   Also in attendance were Vice President Bill Murton, National Director Pat Murton, Secretary and Treasurer Frances Fonner and a handful of other former officers and current members.  Of the 78 voting-eligible member coaches on the roster, there were a total of 6 member coaches present with an additional 5 member coaches participating via ZOOM.  The meeting was announced in advance to the full membership and was also available for them to participate via Zoom.   Lacking a quorum of 15 coaches, the member meeting proceeded as an Executive Committee meeting.

The chapter Secretary and Treasurer, Frances Fonner, is handling all matters related to the dissolution.  Pursuant to the agreement of the Executive Committee and the few members participating, funds in the chapter bank account are being donated across three charities in the coastal region of North and South Carolina.  The bank account was officially closed November 19, 2025.
The chapter website, tiffintravelers.info, has been updated to reflect the closure of the chapter.  Members of record will be notified  by email within the next few weeks of the action being taken.  The (final) 2025 IRS Form 990 will be filed when access to filing becomes available in 2026.  The chapter’s Gmail account, website and domain name will continue for a reasonable period not to exceed the early 2027 contractual expiration of the domain name.  The website will be edited periodically to gradually reduce the information presented as it continues to reflect the dissolution of the chapter.
Respectfully,
Frances Fonner, Secretary and Treasurer
Tiffin Travelers Chapter of FRVA
